The JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl (JLAB) is a nationally recognized academic competition created exclusively for JROTC students. By participating, cadets learn the values of citizenship, leadership, academic competition, and college opportunity


There are Academic and Leadership Teams. The Leadership Team is only available to LET 2-3. Participate in the Academic and Leadership Bowl and your team may win the opportunity to compete in the Academic Championship (JLAB) in Washington, DC in the summer.

There are many benefits of participating in the Academic and Leadership Bowl: 

• Improve SAT/ACT scores 

• Access to college prep materials 

• Increase interest in college admissions

 • Demonstrate the academic strength of the JROTC program 

• Boost esprit de corps 

• Earn the opportunity to travel to our nation’s capital

LEVEL 1

LEVEL 2

February 01, 2024 - February 15, 2024


The Academic National Championship will be held at The Catholic University of America, Washington DC.

June 21, 2024 - June 25, 2024


.The National Leadership Championship will be held at The Catholic University of America, Washington DC.

June 16, 2024 - June 20, 2024




Academic Team 

Questions content will focus on the core curriculum – math, science, language arts – along with knowledge of “how to get into college,” financial literacy, and current events. There will be no JROTC curriculum questions. 


Leadership Team

The leadership team is based on the below JROTC curriculum:

1. Unit 1 – The Emerging Leader (All lessons in all chapters) 

2. Unit 2 – The Developing Leader (All lessons in all chapters) 

3. Unit 3 – The Supervising Leader (All lessons in all chapters) 

4. Unit 4 – The Managing Leader (All lessons in all chapters) 5. Unit 5 – Electives – Continuing Education for Leaders (All lessons in Chapters 1, 3, and 5) 

USAA Educational Foundation Ribbon 

OVERVIEW: The USAA Educational Foundation Ribbon is presented to cadets who participate in the online practice test of JLAB. The award recognizes individual efforts toward achieving a clear understanding of core subjects including math, science, language arts, leadership, current events, and financial literacy.
